In brief

Banking, fintech and insurance leaders needed trusted daily and monthly reporting across several business units, but reports were slow, metrics differed between teams and analysts spent much of their week on repeat ad-hoc requests. Involabs built a centralized financial data warehouse with governed semantic layers, Qlik Sense and Power BI applications for five business units, automated report distribution, and row-level security so each user sees only what they are entitled to. Dashboards became 30 percent faster on banking BI and 50 percent faster on insurance BI, with 40 percent fewer recurring ad-hoc requests.

Architecture

How it works

  1. Integrate

    Source systems

    • Multiple source systems
    • Validation frameworks
    • SSIS and cloud ETL
  2. Model

    Warehouse and semantic layer

    • Financial data models
    • One definition per metric
    • Aligned to regulatory measures
  3. Secure

    Governance

    • Row-level security
    • Section access
    • Platform governance
  4. Deliver

    Dashboards and distribution

    • Qlik Sense and Power BI apps
    • Automated NPrinting distribution
    • Self-service certified datasets

The situation

Leadership in banking, fintech and insurance needed trusted daily and monthly reporting across several business units, under strict access control. Reports were slow, metrics were defined differently from one team to the next, and analysts spent a large share of their week answering the same ad-hoc requests.

What we built

  • A centralized financial data warehouse integrating multiple source systems, with data quality and validation frameworks, delivering audit-ready reporting and removing manual refresh cycles.
  • Semantic layers and data models for financial data, aligned to regulatory and business measures, and built on lakehouse architecture where the scale called for it.
  • Qlik Sense and Power BI applications across five business units, built from the decisions each unit makes.
  • Automated report distribution with Qlik NPrinting, so people receive the view they need on schedule.
  • Row-level security, section access and platform governance, so each user sees exactly what they are entitled to.

Results

  • Dashboards 30 percent faster on banking BI
  • Dashboards 50 percent faster on insurance BI
  • 40 percent fewer recurring ad-hoc requests after the self-service rebuild

Why it matters

In financial services, a dashboard is only as good as the agreement behind its numbers and the control over who sees them. One governed model with enforced access is what let the organization stop debating figures and start using them.
